需求 for the major

I. Departmental requirements:

A. 40 credit hours of 艺术历史,包括分- 1407, 分- 1408, 分- 4494, 和 28 hours, as follows:

One of these courses must address non-Western art (分- 1310, 分- 1413, 分- 2428, 分- 2429, 分- 3320, 分- 3345, 和 applicable special topics courses).
One of these courses must focus on architectural history (分- 1413, 分- 1314, 分- 1415, 分- 1416, 分- 2428, 分- 2429, 分- 3325, 分- 3452, 分- 3454, 分- 3464, 分- 3365 和 applicable special topics courses).
At least 4 courses must be upper-division courses.

B. 完成分- 4494 in the senior year. The course is generally offered every spring semester.

C. Students contemplating graduate study are encouraged to develop reading expertise in at least one foreign language (French, 德国, 西班牙语, 意大利, 和, depending on specialization, 拉丁, 希腊, 俄罗斯, 中国人, 日语), 和 to include a period of study abroad in their program. Two semesters of chemistry are strongly recommended for students considering careers in art conservation.

II. University requirements:

完成 all other required elements of the Pathways curriculum 和 at least 120 credit hours.

Prior to the declaration of an 艺术历史 Major, the student must complete at least three courses in 艺术历史 or Studio Art with a grade of C or better. At least two of these must be courses in 艺术历史.

II. Departmental 需求

The requirements for Honors in 艺术历史 are the same as the university requirements, except that the required 10 credit hours consist of 分- 4494 Theories 和 Practice of 艺术历史, taken during the senior year, plus 6 credit hours for the 荣誉论文 (分- 4398, 分- 4399), taken during the senior year.
